Men's Celtic for Wednesday, July 20, 2016

Celtic Format:

The event format will be a Modified Stableford scoring system. You will receive points on each hole based on your net score. Points are figured as follows:

Net Double Bogey or Worse = -3 Points

Net Bogey = -1 Point

Net Par = 0 Points

Net Birdie = 2 Points

Net Eagle = 5 Points

Net Double Eagle = 8 Points

The entire field will be divided into eight flights of nine teams based on the combined handicap index of both players.

**The maximum spread between team member’s indexes cannot exceed 10.0. Higher handicap players can play down to qualify for the 10.0 index spread. For example, Player A has an index of 8.7 and Player B has a 22.3 index. Player B will be reduced to an 18.7 handicap index for the event.

Tees:

ALL play will be from the only set of tee markers set out each day.

Ties:

Ties will be broken by head to head performance by comparing point totals from the Aggregate format on Saturday, followed by the Modified Chapman, and then the Shamble format. In the unlikely event that teams tie all of the formats, the winner will be determined by a sudden death playoff on the 18th hole. If the 18th hole is halved, the winner will be determined by a chip-off at the 18th green.

1st Place Team - $1500

2nd Place Team - $800

3rd Place Team - $580

  • Flight Players Pool - Bet that the winning team from the Shoot-Out comes from your flight.
  • Entry Fee = $20/Team    

Calcutta

The Calcutta is a good old-fashioned auction. All bids must be paid in CASH ONLY. Payouts:

1st Place: 50% of amount bet within flight

2nd Place: 30% of amount bet within flight

3rd Place: 20% of amount bet within flight

In the event of a tie: Money will be split evenly

Buyback Option: If someone else purchases your team, you may elect to "buyback" 50% of your team. This option must be exercised before play on Thursday.

Payments will be collected by the Men's Golf Committee.

 

 

 

Par 3 Tournament - Wednesday, July 20 - 3:30PM Shotgun Start - Entry Fee = $40/Team

This is a 9-Hole Par 3 event. Teams will compete within their own flights to determine a winner that will qualify for the Par 3 Shoot-Out on Friday. The event format is a 2-Person Modified Chapman. Each player will tee off on every hole, select the best shot, and alternate shots from that point until the ball is holed. Each team will play at scratch in the qualifier. Tees are identified by Irish Flags. Ties for 1st place will be broken by a chip-off on the 18th green.

Par 3 Shoot-Out - Thursday, July 21 - 3:30PM Start on Hole #10

The Par 3 Shoot-Out will consist of the 8 Flight Winners from Wednesday. Three teams will be eliminated on Hole #10, two teams on Hole #11, one team on Hole #12 and the winner will be crowned on Hole #13. In the event of a tie, teams will chip-off to determine who advances on any given hole. If the final two remaining teams tie on Hole #13 they will replay Hole #13 until the winner is determined. The same Modified Chapman format will be used, with strokes given to teams based on handicap. Handicaps will be reduced based on the Par 3 Course Rating. Team handicaps will be 50% of the combined total of the two players. Strokes will be played as they fall on the scorecard.
